VetreSTART Enteric-AID – Case Study

An intensive calf rearer located in one of Victoria’s large dairy districts purchases calves sourced from multiple properties as well as calf scales. Up to 2000 calves are reared and backgrounded at this operation.

The client was experiencing a problem with early on-set scours with Rotovirus, Coronavirus and Cryptosporidium as well as an underlying Salmonella Strain B identified from samples and testing.

Calves sent to the hospital pen had previously been allocated into 2 treatment groups (either a yeast based product or an antibiotic regime) depending on the severity of scours. After veterinary consultation the client agreed to test Enteric-AID in sick calves.
